Foreign object damage (FOD) is the critical cause for the failure of naval aircraft engines. It is difficult to validate the exact causes for FOD, therefore experts sometimes deduce the causes by examining the FOD characteristics. Foreign object, ingestion process and operating environment are key factors which influence the FOD of aircraft engines. The FOD can be decreased by Improving the aircraft design or cleaning the foreign debris timely.
