When the potential flow method is used to calculate the motion response of the ship in the wave, the numerical calculation of the Green's function is the most critical part. In present study, the numerical calculation of the 3D pulsating source Green's function is studied. To improve the global approximation to the Green's function, the numerical error of the global approximation to the Green's function is chosen as the residual function, and the double Chebyshev polynomials are used to approximate it. Finally, present method is used to calculate the motion response and the second order average drift force of ships in floating waves, and the numerical results are compared with model test results and other numerical results, and the corresponding numerical results agree well with experimental data and other results. Thus, the reliability and applicability of the present method is verified.
